In this workshop, students will participate in a range of performance-related activities, culminating in an end of session performance. They will engage in improv activities, study scene and character development, practice role-playing, and more, all while they prepare for a production at the end of the term. They will learn about the process of putting on a theatrical piece, including blocking, costume and set  selection and design, role selection (auditions) and more. This activity will prioritize the French language and while we may allow the flexibility of using English in some of the activities, such as improv, our end-of-term production will be in French.

About the Instructor

Ryan Trimble is a Chicago-based actor and comedian as well as a long-time Lycée employee. He has taught improv classes during the school year and camps at LFC, and has worked on stages across the city such as the iO Theatre, The Annoyance, and The Bughouse. He regularly performs with his bilingual French-English improv team, Frogprov, and will soon be appearing in a principal role in a yet-to-be-announced musical production. On screen, Ryan has made appearances on NBC, ESPN, Canal+ and CBR.com. He is excited to share the art -- and fun -- of theatre with our students!

Students registered for one of these ateliers can stay at school until 6pm by registering for the Extended Day option.
