UNDERSTANDING OUR PROCESSES

End-of-Day transitions, Pick-up procedures,

TRANSITIONS FOR MATERNELLES (3-3:30pm)

During pick-up time, Maternelles students registered after school will remain in their classrooms under the supervision of their classroom assistant. They will eat the snack that parents will have provided for them during this quiet time (3-3:15pm).

3:15-3:30pm is transition time: Students go on a bathroom break, wash hands and are taken by our team to the classroom where their activity will take place. The Garderie classroom will always only welcome students from the same grade. Students registered in ateliers will be with students of a different age but the age difference is always limited.

At 3:35pm, all ateliers classes will start. They will run until 4:35pm. Students registered for an atelier cannot be picked-up mid class.

TRANSITIONS FOR GRADES 1-5 (3:20-3:35pm)

At 3:20pm, in every grade from grade 1 to grade 5, students leaving by foot will go to the Wilson entrance with one of their teachers, and those leaving by car will go to the Allee Alain Weber with another one of their teachers. Students staying in after school stay in the second floor hallway where after school employees in charge of their group meet them and take them outside for recess. Students will eat the snack that they brought from home outside during their recess period.

In case of rain or cold, recess will take place in the school cafeteria.

At 3:30pm, students are met outside (or in the cafeteria) by their homework help teacher or their atelier instructor. Their teacher/instructor takes attendance, and take the group to the classroom/space used for their activity. At the end of their class, students will go to their pick-up location with their instructor, or they will be taken to the group of students staying until 6pm

After school Pick-up procedures

Pick-up Identification system

  • LFC Families receive yearly pickup identification system card sets.

  • Each family has a unique number assignment and design that is changed every year.

  • For children in Pre-K-Grade 5, one card must be attached to their backpack.

  • A separate card must be presented in order to pick up any primary school student whether by foot or by car.

  • Parents must share additional cards with any person they wish to be authorized for pickup.

  • It is the parents’ responsibility to make sure that anyone coming to pick up their child is in possession of a pickup card that corresponds with the student they are meant to pick up.

Parking to pick-up by foot

Pickup from our after-school programs is by foot only. If arriving by car, you must park your vehicle and walk to pick up your student(s). (Pickup by car is ONLY immediately following the  regular school day.)

  • You are authorized to park briefly on the right side of the private drive in a single line in order to pick up your student(s) at the appropriate location.

  • Parking on the left side of the private drive is absolutely forbidden. This is to ensure children do not cross an alley with moving traffic.

  • If you cannot find a parking spot on the right side of the private drive, please consider street parking or circling around until a spot becomes available.

  • Please remember to bring your car’s hanging pickup identification card if you do not have an additional wallet card with you.

Main After School Pickup, 4:35 pm

Children registered for homework help or for an an atelier cannot be picked-up before the end of their class at 4:35pm. This is important as we want to avoid disruption to the classes due to a constant movement of students caused by early departures.

Pick-up at 4:35pm by West Lobby for all Ateliers (except soccer and basketball)

  • Persons authorized to pick up enter through the west entrance off the private drive (rue Alain Weber) and await students and their instructors in the west lobby.

  • Authorized persons check student(s) out with the instructors.

  • A limited number of activities end at 5:00 pm. The same pickup process applies.

Pick-up at 4:35pm on Wilson for Homework help and mini-Flames (soccer and basketball)

Persons authorized to pick up wait for students and their instructors in front of the Wilson entrance.

During the winter months, pickup moves to inside the main lobby on Wilson.

Pick-up from La Garderie

Entrance by west lobby
  • Students registered in La Garderie can be picked-up anytime after the end of the main school pick-up. They must be picked up at the latest by 4:35pm or by 6pm, depending on the registration option picked by families.

  • Persons authorized to pick-up are authorized to enter the Maternelles hallway to go pick-up their child. They will need to show their pick-up card to the guard before entering the building.

  • A TV located in the west lobby indicates the current location of students. They are listed by grade: For example, Pre-K: Room 103; Jr-K: Playground; K: Room 107.

  • Students may also be outside at the playground. If this is the case, pick-up will take place by presenting the pick-up card to an after school employee at the gate by the play structure.

Pick-up by car will take place in the same way as every other day at 3pm.

Pick-up for students staying later than 3pm will take place the same way that it is organized during the rest of the week (see Pick-up process section above).
