UNDERSTANDING OUR PROCESSES

End-of-Day transitions & pick-up procedures

TRANSITIONS FOR Jr-K & K (3-3:30 pm)

From 3:00-3:15 pm, Maternelles students registered after school will remain in their classrooms under the supervision of their classroom assistant. They will eat the snack that parents will have provided for them during this quiet time.

3:15-3:30 pm is transition time: Students go on a bathroom break, wash hands and are taken by our team to the classroom where their activity will take place. Garderie classrooms always welcome students from a single grade. Most ateliers welcome mixed grades, but the age difference is always limited.

At 3:35 pm, all ateliers will start. They will run until 4:35 pm. Students registered for an atelier cannot be picked-up mid class.

For Pre-K Processes, click here.

TRANSITIONS FOR GRADES 1-5 (3:20-3:35 pm)

At 3:20 pm, students in grades 1 to 5 leaving by foot will go to the Wilson entrance with one of their teachers, and those leaving by car will go to the Allée Alain Weber with another one of their teachers. Students staying in after school stay in the second floor hallway where after school employees in charge of their group meet them and take them outside for recess. Students may eat the snack that they brought from home outside during their recess period.

In case of rain or cold, recess will take place in the school cafeteria.

At 3:30 pm, students are met outside (or in the cafeteria) by their homework help teacher or their atelier instructor. Their teacher/instructor takes attendance, and take the group to the classroom/space used for their activity. At the end of their class, students will go to their pick-up location with their instructor, or they will be taken to the group of students staying until 6:00 pm

After school pick-up procedures

Pick-up identification system

  • LFC Families receive yearly pickup identification system card sets.

  • Each family has a unique number assignment and design that is changed every year.

  • For children in Pre-K-Grade 5, one card must be attached to their backpack.

  • A separate card must be presented in order to pick up any primary school student whether by foot or by car.

  • Parents must share additional cards with any person they wish to be authorized for pickup.

  • It is the parents’ responsibility to make sure that anyone coming to pick up their child is in possession of a pickup card that corresponds with the student they are meant to pick up.

Parking to pick-up by foot

Pickup from our after-school programs is by foot only. If arriving by car, you must park your vehicle and walk to pick up your student(s). (Pickup by car is ONLY immediately following the regular school day.)

  • You are authorized to park briefly on the right side of the private drive in a single line in order to pick up your student(s) at the appropriate location.

  • Parking on the left side of the private drive is absolutely forbidden. This is to ensure children do not cross an alley with moving traffic.

  • If you cannot find a parking spot on the right side of the private drive, please consider street parking or circling around until a spot becomes available.

  • Please remember to bring your car’s hanging pickup identification card if you do not have an additional wallet card with you.

Main After School Pick-up, 4:35 pm

for Jr-K through grade 5 students registered for atelier or homework help

Children registered for homework help or for an an atelier cannot be picked up before the end of their class at 4:35 pm. This is important as we want to avoid disruption to the classes due to a constant movement of students caused by early departures.

  • Persons authorized to pick up must wait outside the west entrance off the private drive (rue Alain Weber) and await students and their instructors to arrive in the west lobby.

  • Authorized persons check student(s) out with the instructors.

  • A limited number of activities end at 5:00 pm. The same pickup process applies.
