Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to speak/understand French to attend your classes? What about my child(ren)?
No, you do not need to speak French; our program is an introduction to the language and culture for both you and your child.
Can I bring my newborn along to a class with my older child? Can I bring more than one child to the class ?
Yes, but we suggest bringing someone along to help so that you and your children may fully benefit from the class. We also welcome any nannies, friends or family to help.
I have no children enrolled at Lycée Français de Chicago. Can I still attend the Mini Club classes?
Yes, we welcome all families to our Mini Club program.
Can my nanny come instead of me?
Yes, we welcome any nannies, friends and family members to bring your child if you have no other choice. We want your child to benefit from socializing with other children.
What is the cost of the program?
Each session consists of 6 class dates for $195 per child. Each child must be accompanied by one or two adults. There is no charge for adult participation.
What is the refund policy for Mini Club classes?
Registered families can cancel their registration by sending to afterschool@lyceechicago.org up to 48 hours prior to the start of their class. A $5 cancelation fee will apply in that case and the rest will be refunded. Missed classes - or classes canceled by families less than 48 hours prior to the class - will not be refunded. Should a class be canceled by Lycée Français, a full refund would ensue.
My child is feeling sick. Can I still come with him/her to class?
Please do not bring your child if they have a fever or show symptoms of any potentially contagious disease.
Why are there some weeks when there is no class?
We follow the school’s academic calendar and therefore we will not have class on the weeks when there is no school.
Your classes are all currently offered on Saturdays. Will you offer classes during the week?
Additional classes may be added at a later date as the program grows, but at this time we are only offering weekend classes.
Where should I go on the day of the class?
Adults visitors at Lycée Français must bring an ID with them on their first visit. Please enter the building through the Wilson entrance and present yourself to the security guard. Our teacher will meet all class attendees 5 minutes prior to the start of the class in the main lobby and she will take the group to the class location.
