What to Know Before You Register

ACTIVE Network questions

Questions about our registration software, ACTIVE Network

*I am a first-time ACTIVE Network user. How do I create my account?

You do not need to create an account in advance. Once registration is open, you will be prompted to create your account as part of the registration process. Select your items, then click “Continue” under “Your Shopping Cart”. The next screen will ask for an email address, and will take you through account registration. While you complete your account, your cart is saved.

*What information will I need when registering for LFC*extra activities?

Please have the following information available for an easy registration process:

  1. Your ACTIVE Network username and password (for returning users)

  2. Student’s name, birth date, classroom (ex: CPA, PSB…)

  3. First and last name and phone number for all authorized pick-up person(s) and parent/legal guardian(s).

  4. Student’s allergies (documentation not needed here)

  5. Credit card information for payment

*Do I have to pay in full? Are there installment plans?

You will have two options for payment at the time of registration: pay in full, or pay a 50% deposit plus two additional payments.

When you get to the payment page, you will see your order review, then Payment and Payment options. Select “Pay deposit” to enroll in the payment plan. This will open a drop-down that shows Deposit + 2 payment(s) and the dates those payments will be automatically processed.

*I  need my student to stay until 6pm. How do I add Extended Day?

  • For Pre-K students:

    • Before-school and Extended Day are part of the Pre-K Welcome Pass. In the “View Cart” screen,  you will have the option to check the box for Before-school and/or Extended Day for each day’s Welcome Pass.

  • For Jr-K/MS to Grade 5/CM2 students:

    • Garderie & Homework Help: on the main catalog screen, choose the day and “until 6pm” for extended day in the checkbox list.

    • Ateliers: in the “View Cart” screen, check the box for Extended Day under the atelier. You may also purchase Extended Day separately.

*I have more than one student to sign up. What is the best way to register 2 or more students?

Select all activities for all students by clicking “Add to Cart” under the desired items. When you have made your selections, scroll back to the top and click “Continue” under “Your Shopping Cart”. In step 2, you will see Participations & Options and the question “Who is attending?” From the drop down, select the student to add to the class, or choose “register a new person” to add a new student.

Some families prefer to have Parent 1 register Student 1, and Parent 2 register Student 2. This also works, though please note that the accounts will be separate, so you will only see one child’s classes and financial statements at a time. â€‹

*My student’s birth year doesn’t match the default year for their grade. How do I register them for the right activities?

Select the birth year that matches your child’s grade level, then send an email to afterschool@lyceechicago.org with your child’s correct birth year. We will update the year once your registration is completed.

*I want to be sure my babysitter/au pair/family friend/etc. can pick up my student from after-school activities. Can I do that at registration?

Yes, absolutely! While the best way to ensure an easy pick-up is to provide your number card to anyone who will pick up your student, you can also indicate Authorized Persons when you register your student. Be sure to include their first and last name to avoid any issues at pick-up.
Please note that you do not have to list parents/guardians in the pick-up fields: there is a section below the authorized pick-up person for Primary Parent, and you can add a Second Parent using the blue link under Primary Parent.
Our daily attendance lists include any names entered as Primary Parent, Secondary Parent, Pick-up 1 and Pick-up 2. Only “Primary Parent” is a required field.

*I need to make a change to my student's registration. How do I do that?

Send an email to afterschool@lyceechicago.org with your change request, and we will help you make the changes.

Programmatic questions

*Is there a trial period for ateliers? What if my student doesn't like a class we picked?

We do not offer a trial period for ateliers, but understand that not every class will be the right fit for every child. If you would like to drop out of an atelier once the session starts, email us at afterschool@lyceechicago.org. If there is a family on the waitlist, we can usually replace your student, and refund you for the remaining classes.

*The atelier we want is full. How can I get a spot for my student?

We do our best to accommodate as many students as possible while still maintaining safety and the quality of the programs. In some cases, we are able to open a second group, or families sometimes change their minds about their classes.

If the class is full, we strongly recommend you add your student to the waitlist. Add the class to your cart as a waitlisted item - no payment is required for waitlisted classes. This is the only way we can add students to a class if a space becomes available. You will receive an email from the LFC*extra admin team if a space becomes available for your student with directions on how to claim the spot.

*My student is on a waitlist, but I need childcare that day. What should I do if we don’t get a spot?

Space is always available in Garderie and Homework Help. Please register your student for Garderie (Jr-K to K) or Homework Help (Grades 1-5). If a space becomes available, we can easily transfer the registration towards your class for you at that time.

*How is it possible that an atelier is full right as registration opens?

We never pre-register students for ateliers, so all available spaces are released at the designated time all at once. All spaces are first-come, first-served, with the exception of private music lessons (priority registration for returning students) and Mini-Flames Swim Team (tryout-based).

When you click “Add to Cart”, the registration system removes an available spot from the atelier. When registration opens, there are many people all clicking “Add to Cart” at the same time. Therefore, it is possible that the maximum number of spots are marked as “taken” very quickly after registration opens. The best thing to do is to add your student to the waitlist, and we will contact you if a space becomes available.

*Who are the instructors that run LFC*extra programs?

The LFC*extra team includes LFC faculty and staff, independent instructors, and instructors from local companies that offer enrichment. All individuals go through a rigorous hiring process
