Session 1 Dates: Sep 15, 22, 29, Oct 6, 13, 20, Nov 3, 10, 17, Dec 1, 15, Jan 12, 19, 26, Feb 2, 9
Students will learn the craft of theater design and performance at a beginner’s level. Caryn Ott Hillman will guide them on devising their own story from their imagination. Then, they will develop characters, create costumes and set pieces and find songs to fit into their play. At the end of the term, we will put on a performance at the Lycée!
for grades 3-5
Session 1 Dates: Sep 12, 19, 26, Oct 3, 10, 17, 31, Nov 7, 14, 21, 28, Dec 5, 12, 19, Jan 9, 16, 23, 30, Feb 6, 13
Students will learn the skills of ACTING through dialogue in scenes, SINGING and DANCING in group songs and DESIGN through set and costume building. The students will be cast in a trimmed-down version of a single musical or multiple shows that best shows off their individual talents and interests. At the end of the term, we will put on a performance at the Lycée!
About the Instructor
Caryn Ott Hillman has been teaching Musical Theater at the Lycée since 2015. Her first love was dance but received a Bachelors of Music from Roosevelt University. She believes music is the universal language of the world. She also stage directs and choreographs musicals for Music Theater Works Youth Reach Workshops.
Students registered for one of these ateliers can stay at school until 6pm by registering for the Extended day option for an additional $120.
