 In this program, our professional dance educators will welcome new and returning students as they build on Hip Hop + Pop dance styles in a relaxed, encouraging environment. In each lesson, dancers will understand the history of Hip Hop and then will review and practice the technique, movement phrases, and fundamentals associated with popular Hip Hop forms today. Through team movement activities, self-expression prompts, choice-based freestyle circles, technical practice and choreography exercises, students will strengthen their rhythm, coordination, improvisation and creative confidence. Along the way, Design Dance educators will honor each student’s voice by meeting them at their level and supporting their social-emotional development at their own pace. By the end of the session, dancers will collaborate together to create a student-led performance that represents their unique talents and personalities. To celebrate, family and friends will cheer on students as they present their work in a culminating presentation at the end of the program.

Students registered for one of these ateliers can stay at school until 6pm by registering for the Extended Day option.
