The Philo & art workshop questions the world, introduces children to philosophy

and nourishes their creativity and imagination. Every 90-minute workshop follows

a 3-steps structure:

  • Phase 1: Discovery - An artwork, a story, a poem, a children philosophy book, an art book are used as an educational tool allowing a philosophical question to emerge. The art nourishes the children’s imagination, allow them to express themselves and to develop their artistic knowledge.

  • Phase 2: Reflection - The second part of the workshop explores a philosophical question. Questions asked by the teacher enable the children to define the concept, find examples, justify and evaluate hypotheses, raise contradictions in order to deepen and enrich their ideas.

  • Phase 3: Creation - The idea or concept of the day is explored through a specific art form such as drawing, painting, ink, cutting and pasting, writing, etc. This time of creation allows children to approach the concept through plastic research. The child extends philosophical reflection into artistic expression. Then, the children discuss their creations with their peers.

Students registered for this atelier can stay at school until 6pm by registering for the Extended Day option.
