Did you know the average American child can identify
roughly 1,000 corporate logos, but can only identify a
handful of plants and animals native to their
hometown? We created Green Explorers Club to help change those numbers. Each week, your Green Explorer will learn about nature and sustainability with us through hands-on projects and science experiments that help them understand and navigate our changing planet.
This fall, your student will take a deep dive into how to plan and start a backyard garden. They will use the school’s garden beds to learn how to prepare soil, map a garden, and plant seedlings using the square foot garden method. They will monitor the garden each week, and learn how to make their own homemade garden products, a habitat for pollinators, and review methods for composting and hydroponics before rounding out the session with a delicious snack to help them enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Students registered for one of these ateliers can stay at school until 6pm by registering for the Extended day option.
